How to pay bills online for an apartment in Serbia?
Paying utility bills in Serbia is becoming more convenient and easy. One of the online services that helps citizens with everyday administrative tasks is eSanduče — an electronic service designed to consolidate the delivery and payment of bills for Infostan (public utility company) and services from the MTS telecommunications operator. Find out how to pay your electricity bills online and check your taxes for real estate located in Serbia.
Online payment of utilities
The eSanduče service allows users to easily track and pay bills online through a mobile app or web portal. All incoming bills are available in a clear, digital format, and payment is simple and secure via Visa, Mastercard, Dina, Maestro, and American Express cards. The main advantage of eSanduče is that it allows bill payments anytime and from any location, without waiting for paper invoices or visiting payment counters.
Notifications about billing and discounts
One of the key advantages of eSanduče is that users immediately receive notifications when their bill is issued, before the paper invoice is printed and mailed. The platform also sends notifications about payment deadlines with discounts, so you can take advantage of available discounts of 5%, 6%, and 7% for timely payments.
Review and archive paid invoices
The service offers users access to a history of previous bills. This way, you can stop storing old invoices in folders, as all information on paid bills will be saved in the system. By using the "Turn off paper bills" option, citizens can stop receiving paper invoices by mail and fully switch to the electronic system.
Registration for eSanduče
Users can access eSanduče through the mobile app available for iOS and Android devices, as well as through the eSanduče web portal. Registration is quick and easy, and once registered, using the service features is as simple as email, with quick bill payment options. A full video tutorial can be watched after creating an account, and if you've forgotten your password or username, you can easily retrieve the information by entering your personal ID number and email address.
Paying for electricity online
"Elektroprivreda Srbije" has launched a portal for electronically receiving and paying bills for electricity usage called "Uvid u račun" (Bill overview). You can register on the EPS website to receive e-bills immediately after the monthly charge is issued, without waiting for a paper invoice to arrive at your home address. Additional benefits of the portal include access to a history of paid bills from the past three years and tracking consumption by zones and tariffs. The portal also offers fast and secure electronic payments via the IPS Scan system or by using Dina, Visa, and MasterCard payment cards.
How do I check on my property taxes in Serbia?
If you want to check whether you have settled all your property tax payments, you can do so without going to the local tax administration offices and waiting in line. There is not yet a unified electronic service for tax payments, but you can view information about your current debt online on the Local Tax Administration portal. To access this service, you must register using one of two methods: verification through a qualified electronic certificate, which can be obtained on the eUprava portal, or via the ConsentID app, which is free and available for Android and iOS users. The parameters for the ConsentID mobile app can be obtained at one of the locations listed in the link. Once you successfully log in, you get an overview of your tax obligations — current status and a record of completed transactions.
Considering these options, Serbian citizens now have the opportunity to digitalize many of their administrative tasks with ease. While the shift to electronic bill payment is gradually increasing, there is still a portion of the population that continues to rely on the traditional "paper" system. For some, this is due to long-standing habits or simply not being aware of the benefits that digital services offer. With time and greater familiarity, confidence in these modern solutions is likely to grow.
