July in Novi Sad

School’s out, days are longer, and the summer is in full bloom. Organizers are performing last checkups for the Exit festival. Soon, the city will be filled with tourists from all over the world. Along with Exit, we will have film and theater festivals, summer season at Štrand beach and many cultural manifestations. Learn more about happenings in July.

Exhibition - the Virtual world of an architect

The exhibition "The Virtual world of an architect" will be open in the Cultural Center of Novi Sad on 3 July at 19h. The author of this exhibit is Slobodan Maldini. He will show a personal collection of drawings and sketches which he collected from artists and architects from all over the world. Maldini got his first sketch in 1977. He collected drawings and artwork on travels and random trips. Visitors will have a chance to see works of postmodern architects and the famous contemporary artist Keith Haring. The exhibit is open until 13 July.

New Fortress Theater

The fifth ambient theatre festival called "New Fortress Theater" is taking place in gorgeous Villa Stanković in Čortanovci. Under the slogan "Before the robots take over" six plays from Serbia and region will be performed. Villa Stanković was built in 1930 in Serbian medieval style. The ambiance and architecture add up to the uniqueness of this festival. You can get tickets for these plays at Gigs tix, and if you need transportation, mention that upon purchasing the ticket. Those of you driving to the Villa should take into consideration that the old Novi Sad road is closed for maintenance and that you need to take an alternative route - take the highway until turn to Beška. The plays start at 21h.

European film festival

European film festival starts on July 4 and lasts until the 19th. It will take place on two locations - Cultural Center of Novi Sad and open Brod theater. Brod theater is a project of Student Cultural center, and it's located at Beogradski kej near Duga bridge. This is the seventh film festival and this year it carries the message "Our heritage: where past meets the present." There are 17 different movies that cover the topic of European heritage. The entrance to all screenings is free.

Exit festival

12th - 15th July the Petrovaradin fortress will again become the state of Exit. This year is the 18th year in a row this festival is gathering music lovers from all over the world. With 40 stages and diverse lineup, this year Exit has a simple slogan - Freedom. Exit Freedom includes five festivals in the region, where other four are organized in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Romania and Montenegro.

A couple of days before Exit, on 10th and 11th, Opens Youth Fair will take place at three locations in Novi Sad - Trg slobode (Freedom square), Catholic port, and OPENS office space in Laze Telečkog street. This festival is a Youth tourism fair where participants will use dance, music, and sport to advertise the beauty of Novi Sad and the entire region.

Summer in Novi Sad

Musical summer in Novi Sad lasts until 25 August. With a focus on quality and favorite music, this festival will allow visitors to enjoy good music outdoors. Festival is taking place at different locations in the city.

Jazz music lovers should hurry to apply to Summer Jazz Academy in Cultural Center Novi Sad. Call for applications is open until July 13, and the academy course starts on 14th and lasts until 21st. Attendance is free thanks to the respective organization of music professors from Dortmund and "Isidor Bajić" school.
