The current boundaries of Voždovac were established by administrative changes in the 1950s and 1960s, incorporating nearby villages and settlements such as Beli Potok, Jajinci, Kumodraž, Pinosava, Zuce, and Ripanj. Modern urban neighborhoods, including Šumice, Konjarnik, Braća Jerković, Medaković, Banjica, and Stepa Stepanović, were developed in the second half of the 20th century.

History & Culture

Voždovac is named after Karađorđe Petrović, leader of the First Serbian Uprising (1804–1813). Many streets are named after historical figures, including Vojvode Stepe, honoring the commander Stepa Stepanović. Landmarks include the Avala Tower, Avala Mountain, and Banjička Forest, offering both cultural and natural attractions.
